The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when Zlatan BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Allan Blomqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 6th minute Juan-Alfredo Guceño shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Billy Pihl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 9th match minute, Inter de Guayaquil FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zunbeltz Inchaurdi to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Allan Blomqvist in the 9th minute really tested Danilo Villafane's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Roque Mora charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roque Mora the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Inter de Guayaquil FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 11th minute. Penalty! A collision led to Inter de Guayaquil FC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Alarcón Mallavia hit a great ball. Danilo Villafane showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robin Skog in the 18th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Alexandro Mina got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 19th minute of the match Gunnar Wester sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Danilo Villafane skillfully saved the ball. With a little luck, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Danilo Villafane got control of the ball when Ulf Lundin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Danilo Villafane came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Zlatan BK's Robin Skog. But to his dismay, Robin Skog quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 32nd minute Gunnar Wester shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danilo Villafane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Robin Skog succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 38th playminute. In the 42nd minute, Gunnar Wester hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Inter de Guayaquil FC's Juan-Alfredo Guceño got a free kick in the 44th minute. Billy Pihl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Calenga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robin Skog to strike the kick off in the second half. Juan-Alfredo Guceño who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Billy Pihl when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 58th minute, Ulf Lundin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juan-Alfredo Guceño's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Billy Pihl firmly grabbed it by the left post. 59 minutes into the match, Zlatan BK's goal looked a bit too open when Vera Castro came free, but Billy Pihl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Billy Pihl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Calenga in the 63rd minute of the match. Billy Pihl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan-Alfredo Guceño in the 67th minute of play. Viktor Damm kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. 71 minutes into the match, Zlatan BK's goal looked a bit too open when Vera Castro came free, but Billy Pihl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Billy Pihl came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de Guayaquil FC's Marcelo Calenga. But to his dismay, Marcelo Calenga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Alexandro Mina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Inter de Guayaquil FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexandro Mina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Billy Pihl breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Juan-Alfredo Guceño got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Inter de Guayaquil FC defense, Jan-Olof Björck kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Danilo Villafane. The Inter de Guayaquil FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Danilo Villafane should have stopped the shot. In the 88th minute Ulf Lundin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danilo Villafane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 90 minutes into the match, Alexandro Mina dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Billy Pihl, 3-2.
