Sheriff's Yahia van der Saar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Sheriff from getting a goal against them. Sao Brasola's Urbano Saturnin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clayton Gol in the 6th minute of play. 11 minutes into the game, Giannis Polizos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Urbano Saturnin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 16 minutes Sao Brasola's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Akakios Trachanas who took care of the corner kick. Sheriff's Yahia van der Saar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joseph Asklöv in the 21st minute of play. With a little luck, Sheriff's Yahia van der Saar got control of the ball when Cesare Punta tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Clayton Gol's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Urbano Saturnin was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. 28 minutes into the match, Sheriff's goal looked a bit too open when Joseph Asklöv came free, but Yahia van der Saar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Sao Brasola's Elia Di Vincenzo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Yahia van der Saar. That made the score 1-1 after 29 minutes of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Clayton Gol in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Urbano Saturnin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Sao Brasola's Inácio de Salles got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 39thth minute of the game Clayton Gol who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sao Brasola's Urbano Saturnin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Sheriff getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Kılıçalp Ayçetin hit a great ball. Yahia van der Saar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joseph Asklöv, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 43 played minutes Sheriff got a freekick which was hit by Giannis Polizos. After 44 played minutes, Sao Brasola's Deng Jian Bing shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Yahia van der Saar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sao Brasola reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clayton Gol in the 48th minute of play forced Sao Brasola's goalkeeper Urbano Saturnin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clayton Gol stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Sao Brasola booed when Sheriff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Notis Filippas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Urbano Saturnin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Clayton Gol in the 59th minute. In the 64th minute, Sheriff's Clayton Gol ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Urbano Saturnin. Urbano Saturnin yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Sheriff made a substitution. Iraklis Karasavvidis replaced Dragoş Bălace. Urbano Saturnin was out of position in the 68 minute of play, and Thodoris Tassoulis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Thodoris Tassoulis really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Yahia van der Saar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joseph Asklöv in the 74th minute of the match. Joseph Asklöv took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Yahia van der Saar. Yahia van der Saar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. 78 minutes into the match, Sao Brasola's goalkeeper Urbano Saturnin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Damaso Xacintu. Clayton Gol could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Urbano Saturnin made a huge save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sheriff had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
