With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fazlı İçkin in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zachariasz Rakiewicz saved Wataha Świętokrzyska from getting behind. In the 5th minute Spartak Ayala shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zachariasz Rakiewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Beniamin Buczak hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Kayserispor's Väino Asuja quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Beniamin Buczak, made in the 10th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Spartak Ayala in the 12th minute of play forced Wataha Świętokrzyska's goalkeeper Zachariasz Rakiewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Fazlı İçkin came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Kayserispor fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fazlı İçkin couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd minute, Spartak Ayala made a precise shot to the right of Zachariasz Rakiewicz. Wataha Świętokrzyska's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Zachariasz Rakiewicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Spartak Ayala, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Doğan Alemdar was a little too slow when Witomir Gardocki got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 1-2. Zachariasz Rakiewicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Spartak Ayala in the 41st minute of play. Spartak Ayala might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zachariasz Rakiewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Spartak Ayala ran back to his position shaking his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Doğan Alemdar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barnaba Zukowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Barnaba Zukowski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Doğan Alemdar was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Zachariasz Rakiewicz made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Rüdiger Stanke sent off a good shot on target. If Sylwester Szarmach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th match minute, Wataha Świętokrzyska was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barnaba Zukowski to maneuver through the defense. Yavuz Bülent Akduman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 93 played minutes Wataha Świętokrzyska got a freekick which was hit by Valentin Brad. Sylwester Szarmach received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Doğan Alemdar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over Kayserispor could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Wataha Świętokrzyska throughout the match.
