Anselmo Nevada could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Erdi Bender made a huge save. Erdi Bender took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anselmo Nevada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 17 played minutes Club Atlético Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Fabio Artaldo. Ciro Ferdinand hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Mugur Chiriacs short, quick shot in the 27thth minute got Erdi Bender to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After having played for 28 minutes, Luis Elequemedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Szczakowianka's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Elequemedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Elequemedo in the 30th minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Pankracy Glogowski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute Anselmo Nevada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erdi Bender saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfonso Goicoechea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Erdi Bender made a huge save. Club Atlético Atlanta's Pankracy Glogowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Elequemedo in the 39th minute of play. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfonso Goicoechea made a kick off.
