In the 20th minute Sten Vallman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pankracy Glogowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, ATILA's goalkeeper Placido Matro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfonso Goicoechea. Norberto Neeskens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Pankracy Glogowski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of ATILA booed when Club Atlético Atlanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remigio Erramu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfonso Goicoechea took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Placido Matro. Placido Matro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Sten Vallman made the kick off in the second half. Sten Vallman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pankracy Glogowski having to interfere. When Club Atlético Atlanta's Mugur Chiriac in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Club Atlético Atlanta's Benigno Abreu was substituted for Remigio Erramu. A collision led to Club Atlético Atlanta getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Fabio Artaldo hit a great ball. Pankracy Glogowski acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 75th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Norberto Neeskens. ATILA's Placido Matro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mugur Chiriac in the 80th minute of play. In the 86thth minute of the game Mugur Chiriac who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ATILA's Placido Matro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pankracy Glogowski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Genadi Kotrulev in the 89th minute. Genadi Kotrulev kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Pankracy Glogowski made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Sten Vallman sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Club Atlético Atlanta had won after a very even match.
