The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teobaldo Milian got free with Dražen Ladić in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Teobaldo Milian could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Dražen Ladić made a huge save. Spams's Dražen Ladić proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Spams from getting a goal against them. Aquiles Oihenarte came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Spams's Cecilio Telesforo. But to his dismay, Cecilio Telesforo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Domingos Beila came free, but Aquiles Oihenarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Paulino Frechoso took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Dražen Ladić to make any attempt to save it. If Domingos Beila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 24th minute, Domingos Beila hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dario Errapel's late challenge caught a Club Atlético Atlanta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dario Errapel helped the player get up and apologised. Dario Errapel kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. After 33 played minutes Spams got a freekick which was hit by Pascual Tonio. 34 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's Fabian Guter broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 37 minutes into the match, Domingos Beila notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Club Atlético Atlanta's Aquiles Oihenarte. Aquiles Oihenarte was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Spams's Dražen Ladić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulino Frechoso in the 42nd minute of play. After the first half Spams were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Teobaldo Milian to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Ante Rebić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aquiles Oihenarte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aquiles Oihenarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cecilio Telesforo, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Igor Tudor hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. The supporters of Spams booed when Club Atlético Atlanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aquiles Oihenarte showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Club Atlético Atlanta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Spams the free kick. The audience was convinced that Ante Rebić's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aquiles Oihenarte was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético Atlanta's Agustin Pacho got a free kick in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domingos Beila in the 71st minute of play forced Club Atlético Atlanta's goalkeeper Aquiles Oihenarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Club Atlético Atlanta's Aquiles Oihenarte got control of the ball when Cecilio Telesforo tried to sneak it across the goal line.
