In the 20th minute, Josh Galloway hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 24 played minutes Guinness Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Darick Todd. Brandon Borthwick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ryan McNamee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guinness Athletic's Lisandro Ospin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oliver McIlvride in the 31st minute of play. After 33 played minutes Guinness Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Darick Todd. In the 34th minute Nick McDonachie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lisandro Ospin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lisandro Ospin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gus Simpson in the 38th minute of play. Lisandro Ospin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nick McDonachie, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. When Darick Todd fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Guinness Athletic's protests and gave Darick Todd a yellow card for diving instead. After 43 played minutes Guinness Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Darick Todd.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nick McDonachie to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Dundee Rovers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William McJames to maneuver through the defense. After 56 minutes, Ryan McNamee made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Dundee Rovers's Brandon Borthwick tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 72nd minute, Brennan McGlynn made a precise shot to the right of Brandon Borthwick. Dundee Rovers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. 76 minutes into the match, Guinness Athletic's goalkeeper Lisandro Ospin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nick McDonachie. Brandon Borthwick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ryan McNamee in the 81st minute of the match. Lisandro Ospin made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Nick McDonachie sent off a good shot on target. Lisandro Ospin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nick McDonachie in the 84th minute. A collision led to Guinness Athletic getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Ryan McNamee hit a great ball. After 88 minutes, Quinn Coyle mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guinness Athletic and the Dundee Rovers players grew even worse after the yellow card.
