With a little luck, River Thames FC's Trev Cahill got control of the ball when Andre Pollard tried to sneak it across the goal line. River Thames FC's Trev Cahill played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leon Hudson in the 8th minute of play. With 9 minutes on the clock, Gareth Timiney commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 11th minute there was a penalty for River Thames FC. Tod Cartwright stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Fedele Scutti. 0-1. River Thames FC's Charles Baker got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian York in the 15th minute of play forced Atletico Roma's goalkeeper Fedele Scutti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the game, River Thames FC's Marcus Swift nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fedele Scutti made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 24 minutes into the match, Jo Zamora notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of River Thames FC's Trev Cahill. Trev Cahill was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Swift in the 33rd minute of play forced Atletico Roma's goalkeeper Fedele Scutti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Atletico Roma fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Atletico Roma's Andre Pollard looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 40th minute, Andre Pollard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ian York was the one to do the kick off. If Andre Pollard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Will Hotte put it in 3-3 from a short distance just to the right of Trev Cahill. Fedele Scutti stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ian York's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. Trev Cahill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Will Hotte, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Marcus Swift showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-5. Will Hotte kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. In the 90th minute of the match Tod Cartwright sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fedele Scutti skillfully saved the ball. 92 minutes into the match, Atletico Roma's goal looked a bit too open when Ian York came free, but Fedele Scutti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Atletico Roma's Andre Pollard sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Trev Cahill narrowly saved just below the crossbar. River Thames FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Atletico Roma's much stronger midfield.
