Isaias Hug took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 14th minute of play forced Fortin FC's goalkeeper Isaias Hug to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nery Pumpido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Pavone in the 18th minute of the match. In the 25th minute Mariano Pavone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nery Pumpido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Pavone, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Nery Pumpido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jari Thørring in the 31st minute of the match. Nery Pumpido was a little too slow when Mariano Pavone got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 31st minute. The score was now 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 34th minute of play forced Fortin FC's goalkeeper Isaias Hug to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36thth minute of the game Sven-Edvin Jansson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fortin FC's Isaias Hug was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some careless play in the GuateFortín defense, Jari Thørring kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nery Pumpido. The GuateFortín fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nery Pumpido should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Sven-Edvin Jansson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Isaias Hug was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sven-Edvin Jansson to make the kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 51 minutes, Isaias Hug successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 53 minutes Fortin FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Angel Alvarenga who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Thierry Henry heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Sven-Edvin Jansson struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Isaias Hug didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GuateFortín. GuateFortín made a substitution. Mario Gomez replaced Thierry Henry. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jari Thørring in the 65th minute of play forced GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sven-Edvin Jansson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Isaias Hug read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. In the 68th match minute, GuateFortín was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pablo Mora to maneuver through the defense. After 70 minutes, Luisito Godoy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fortin FC and the GuateFortín players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Fortin FC's Luisito Godoy got a free kick in the 70th minute. Fortin FC's Lautaro Acosta was substituted for Denis Isaio. The supporters of GuateFortín booed when Fortin FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luisito Godoy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gilberto Mello struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Nery Pumpido didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fortin FC. A very good chance. 86 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Pavone came free, but Nery Pumpido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nery Pumpido came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by Fortin FC's Mariano Pavone. But to his dismay, Mariano Pavone quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Fortin FC's Hipolito Vincente was substituted for Mariano Pavone. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Ivan Lozano got a free kick in the 94th minute. Fortin FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
