Tom Saunders was left in no man's land by his defense there! Waljan Cartledge charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Waljan Cartledge the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The goalkeeper, Emrys Fry, was totally fooled by Edinburgh City's Ciaran McAy, who 25 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 29 minutes into the match, Chester City AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jason Geddes came free, but Emrys Fry reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Edinburgh City fans' excitement grew in the 33rd match minute when Edinburgh City's John McLae looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tom Saunders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boleslaw Mudry in the 36th minute of play. Jason Geddes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 3-3 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Boleslaw Mudry to strike the kick off in the second half. Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peissawg Francis in the 53rd minute of play. Edinburgh City's supporters crossed their fingers, but John McLae was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Jason Geddes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emrys Fry was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. After 92 minutes Edinburgh City's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Berwyn Dunkin who took care of the corner kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Boleslaw Mudry got free with Tom Saunders in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 96 minutes into the game, Chester City AFC's Peissawg Francis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tom Saunders made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-5. The Chester City AFC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
