After 3 played minutes Edinburgh City got a freekick which was hit by Jason Geddes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quinn Coyle in the 8th minute of play forced Edinburgh City's goalkeeper Tom Saunders to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th minute Doney McDonald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Saunders saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 13 minutes of play, Guinness Athletic's Ryan McNamee made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tom Saunders was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 17th match minute, Guinness Athletic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quinn Coyle to maneuver through the defense. Tom Saunders took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quinn Coyle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 22nd minute Louis McWill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Saunders saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 25 minutes, Jason Geddes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Edinburgh City and the Guinness Athletic players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 25th minute, Jason Geddes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 27 minutes into the game, Briain McJon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Guinness Athletic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Edinburgh City the free kick. After 27 played minutes Guinness Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Briain McJon. Tom Saunders didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Louis McWill went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Guinness Athletic's Louis McWill got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Lisandro Ospin managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Edinburgh City's John McLae fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 36 minutes into the match, Edinburgh City's goal looked a bit too open when Quinn Coyle came free, but Tom Saunders reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Carlyle kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Guinness Athletic's Briain McJon tried to score from far away in the 38th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Quinn Coyle in the 41st minute of play. Tom Saunders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Louis McWill in the 43rd minute of play. Frankie Conlon hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when John McLae made the kick off in the second half. Lisandro Ospin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John McLae in the 51st minute of the match. 55 minutes into the match, Guinness Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Frankie Conlon came free, but Lisandro Ospin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tom Saunders showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ryan McNamee, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. A collision led to Guinness Athletic getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Ryan McNamee hit a great ball. 64 minutes into the match, Guinness Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Jason Geddes came free, but Lisandro Ospin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Conor Alcock's late challenge caught a Guinness Athletic's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Conor Alcock helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Edinburgh City getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Conor Alcock hit a great ball. Tom Saunders was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Briain McJon. Josh McLairish's late challenge caught a Guinness Athletic's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Josh McLairish helped the player get up and apologised. Josh McLairish hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Edinburgh City defense, Ryan McNamee kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tom Saunders. The Edinburgh City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tom Saunders should have stopped the shot. Lisandro Ospin came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Edinburgh City's John McLae. But to his dismay, John McLae quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. After 89 played minutes Guinness Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Darick Todd. 91 minutes into the match, John McLae had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lisandro Ospin. Guinness Athletic's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that John McLae was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Guinness Athletic had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
