The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Limerick AFC's goalkeeper Quinn McBjarton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by John McLae. In the 5th minute, Edinburgh City's Frankie Conlon dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Aubrey Robinson hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. A collision led to Limerick AFC getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Aubrey Robinson hit a great ball. Quinn McBjarton was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Josh McLairish. In the 14th minute Frankie Conlon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Quinn McBjarton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Quinn McBjarton was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but John McLae showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 15 minute of play. When Edinburgh City's Frankie Conlon in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baiscend Frankson in the 24th minute of play. John McLae could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Quinn McBjarton made a huge save. In the 28th minute Baiscend Frankson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Saunders saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Edinburgh City's Frankie Conlon dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. In a very dangerous position, a player in Edinburgh City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 37th minute. Penalty! After 43 played minutes Edinburgh City got a freekick which was hit by Josh McLairish. In the 47th minute, Baiscend Frankson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Limerick AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

Limerick AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. 56 minutes into the game, Chris Goudie threw the ball into play from the sideline. Limerick AFC's Finn McJohn quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Quinn McBjarton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John McLae, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 59th match minute, Limerick AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Finn McJohn to maneuver through the defense. When Arnold Kirby fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Limerick AFC's protests and gave Arnold Kirby a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Limerick AFC's Arnold Kirby got a free kick in the 60th minute. Quinn McBjarton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciaran McAy in the 60th minute of the match. Quinn McBjarton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jason Geddes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute, Bivadas McCready hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard and well directed shot from Ciaran McAy led 64 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Limerick AFC's Quinn McBjarton became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 5-2. With 67 minutes on the clock, Bivadas McCready commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 67 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Limerick AFC! John McLae took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Quinn McBjarton. Quinn McBjarton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-2. 78 minutes into the match, Limerick AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ciaran McAy came free, but Quinn McBjarton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Limerick AFC's Arnold Kirby got a free kick in the 81st minute. If John McLae had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Limerick AFC's Quinn McBjarton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciaran McAy in the 86th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Baiscend Frankson took a quick shot and it went in 7-3 without a chance for Tom Saunders to make any attempt to save it. Pearson McLian received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tom Saunders came out and tried to block the shot, but Pearson McLian slotted it home off the left post making it 7-4 in the 90th minute. Quinn McBjarton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jason Geddes, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. In the 95th minute, Gill Holt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 98 minutes into the match, Limerick AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Frankie Conlon came free, but Quinn McBjarton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There was no doubt that Edinburgh City were the better team. Edinburgh City's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
