Jason Geddes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Francis Gurney made a huge save. Tom Saunders took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mattias Cartwright, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 14 minutes of play, The White Rovers's Mattias Cartwright made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tom Saunders was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tom Saunders showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mattias Cartwright in the 26th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Mattias Cartwright had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tom Saunders. Edinburgh City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mattias Cartwright was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when John McLae got free with Francis Gurney in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tom Saunders showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doug Walker, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. A collision led to Edinburgh City getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. John McLae hit a great ball. The supporters of The White Rovers booed when Edinburgh City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Darius McOmie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Francis Gurney stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jason Geddes's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Edinburgh City's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Dlyan came free, but Tom Saunders reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tom Saunders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Dlyan in the 41st minute of play. After having played for 45 minutes, Frankie Conlon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Edinburgh City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frankie Conlon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

But to his dismay, Joel Dlyan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. With 75 minutes on the clock, Archie Garner commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 75 minutes into the game, one of The White Rovers:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Joel Dlyan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Saunders having to interfere. Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doug Walker in the 87th minute of play. Guy Gordon charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Guy Gordon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Guy Gordon hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Edinburgh City's zone, Doug Walker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tom Saunders came out of the goal and Doug Walker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When James Haseldine fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The White Rovers's protests and gave James Haseldine a yellow card for diving instead.
