Guinness Athletic's Ryan McNamee got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Brandon Borthwick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quinn Coyle in the 28th minute of the match. Dundee Rovers's Brandon Borthwick proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Dundee Rovers from getting a goal against them. 46 minutes into the match, Briain McJon sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Brandon Borthwick threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Briain McJon this time. Briain McJon kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. After the first half Dundee Rovers were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Quinn Coyle made a kick off. Darick Todd charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Darick Todd the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 51st match minute, Guinness Athletic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darick Todd to maneuver through the defense. 52 minutes into the match, Guinness Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Oliver McIlvride came free, but Lisandro Ospin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 63 minutes, Nick McDonachie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dundee Rovers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nick McDonachie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nick McDonachie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Lisandro Ospin made a huge save. After 68 minutes of play, Guinness Athletic's Ryan McNamee made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Brandon Borthwick was left in no man's land by his defense there! Brandon Borthwick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Quinn Coyle in the 75th minute of play. After 79 minutes, Ryan McNamee mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guinness Athletic and the Dundee Rovers players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 79 played minutes Guinness Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Ryan McNamee. An unexpectedly hard shot by Quinn Coyle in the 85th minute of play forced Dundee Rovers's goalkeeper Brandon Borthwick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
