An unexpectedly hard shot by Quentin Bell in the 4th minute of play forced Real Chelsea's goalkeeper Comunardo Prandini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 5 minutes Real Chelsea's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Quentin Bell who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Quentin Bell almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Real Chelsea's Comunardo Prandini did a great save. Real Chelsea's Comunardo Prandini played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harry Robson in the 8th minute of play. Gus Weir struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Theo Groom didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Chelsea. Theo Groom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gus Weir, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Timothy Thorne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Gus Weir put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Theo Groom. A collision led to East Ham United getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Les Simpson hit a great ball. When Glenn Gates fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored East Ham United's protests and gave Glenn Gates a yellow card for diving instead. In the 34th minute, Glenn Gates hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Theo Groom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timothy Thorne, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 36 minutes into the match, East Ham United's goal looked a bit too open when Timothy Thorne came free, but Theo Groom reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Real Chelsea's Comunardo Prandini proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Real Chelsea from getting a goal against them. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Harry Robson was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Gus Weir managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Chelsea's supporters rose to their feet, but Gus Weir was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Theo Groom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Michael Turk hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. When Quentin Bell came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the East Ham United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Quentin Bell couldn't finish the play. Timothy Thorne took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Theo Groom. Theo Groom dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Real Chelsea's Herbert Blomkvist got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Michael Turk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 63 played minutes East Ham United got a freekick which was hit by Ryan Ackroyd. Timothy Thorne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Theo Groom having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Harry Robson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Comunardo Prandini was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 71 minutes into the game, Gus Weir recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Theo Groom. Gus Weir showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Real Chelsea made a substitution. Barney Yeo replaced Stu Bullock. Real Chelsea's Timothy Thorne got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Timothy Thorne struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Theo Groom didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Real Chelsea. In the 83rd minute Real Chelsea were awarded a corner. Timothy Thorne went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Timothy Thorne almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but East Ham United's Theo Groom did a great save. The supporters of Real Chelsea booed when East Ham United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mike Callery didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tyler Tolley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Theo Groom read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Quentin Bell kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. East Ham United's Theo Groom proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save East Ham United from getting a goal against them. In the 93rd minute, Tyler Tolley fired away a shot that was totally unreachable for Theo Groom. The ball ended up just outside the left post, and Real Chelsea's manager could be seen angrily pacing the sidelines. In the 94th match minute, Real Chelsea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timothy Thorne to maneuver through the defense. Real Chelsea played a much better game than East Ham United and deserved their victory. The East Ham United players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
