FC Kopeto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Josef Slepička was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnold Petřek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Ziebart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Winfried Teichmann hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Halil Winskowsky sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Josef Slepička took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Johann Scheuerer. Johann Scheuerer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. With a little luck, FC Kopeto's Arnold Petřek got control of the ball when Halil Winskowsky tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 27th match minute, FC Kopeto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miroslav Kocman to maneuver through the defense. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 28th minute, but Arnold Petřek got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving FC Kopeto hanging dry this time. 31 minutes in the game, Luis Ziebart fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Arnold Petřek having to interfere. Arnold Petřek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Ziebart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot by Hansjörg Selke from long distance, 42 minutes into the match, got Arnold Petřek's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After a defensive mix-up in Rot-Weiss-Essen's zone, Markus Rosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johann Scheuerer came out of the goal and Markus Rosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Markus Rosa was the one to do the kick off. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Johann Scheuerer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josef Slepička in the 52nd minute of play. Johann Scheuerer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Markus Rosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Markus Rosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johann Scheuerer having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Halil Winskowsky in the 62nd minute of play forced FC Kopeto's goalkeeper Arnold Petřek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Gino Nölte fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rot-Weiss-Essen's protests and gave Gino Nölte a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Gino Nölte hit a great ball. Markus Rosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 77 minutes of play Rot-Weiss-Essen's Gino Nölte was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Halil Winskowsky kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 83rd match minute, FC Kopeto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Markus Rosa to maneuver through the defense. When Josef Slepička came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the FC Kopeto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Josef Slepička couldn't finish the play. Luis Ziebart scored 1-2 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnold Petřek, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match was over FC Kopeto could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Rot-Weiss-Essen throughout the match.
