The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Håkon Mylliin the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Hoberg United protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Håkon Mylliin had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. A collision led to Hoberg United getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Håkon Mylliin hit a great ball. Johann Scheuerer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sigfred Kellebjerg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Rot-Weiss-Essen were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sigfred Kellebjerg to strike the kick off in the second half. Johann Scheuerer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sigfred Kellebjerg, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute.
