With a couple of smart ball manuevers Artaç Dalmaz in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Johann Scheuerer saved Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting behind. After 8 played minutes Lokomotiv Bornova got a freekick which was hit by Hayati Tokyüz. Halil Winskowsky recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Johann Scheuerer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hayati Tokyüz in the 12th minute of play. Noel Erler kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. The supporters of Lokomotiv Bornova booed when Rot-Weiss-Essen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Noel Erler didn't get a good kick on the ball. Johann Scheuerer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hayati Tokyüz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's goal looked a bit too open when Serter Çağnur came free, but Johann Scheuerer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Artaç Dalmaz in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Johann Scheuerer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Johann Scheuerer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artaç Dalmaz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kahraman Kunter made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Gino Nölte sent off a good shot on target. If Coşkun Usman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Serter Çağnur struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Johann Scheuerer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lokomotiv Bornova. Kahraman Kunter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Halil Winskowsky in the 34th minute of the match. Johann Scheuerer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artaç Dalmaz in the 38th minute of play. Lokomotiv Bornova's Coşkun Usman got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Johann Scheuerer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artaç Dalmaz in the 40th minute of play. Hansjörg Selke hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute of the match Çağan Demren sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Johann Scheuerer skillfully saved the ball. Coşkun Usman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johann Scheuerer having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Noel Erler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Halil Winskowsky in the 54th minute of play forced Lokomotiv Bornova's goalkeeper Kahraman Kunter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Hayati Tokyüz came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Lokomotiv Bornova fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hayati Tokyüz couldn't finish the play. Halil Winskowsky received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Kahraman Kunter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Coşkun Usman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 80 minutes, Hansjörg Selke mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rot-Weiss-Essen and the Lokomotiv Bornova players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 80th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hansjörg Selke to maneuver through the defense. During the 82nd minute of the match Hansjörg Selke completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Hansjörg Selke a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Hansjörg Selke got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 87th minute, Halil Winskowsky hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 88 minutes, Serter Çağnur managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lokomotiv Bornova's supporters crossed their fingers, but Serter Çağnur was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 91 minutes into the game, Noel Erler was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rot-Weiss-Essen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lokomotiv Bornova the free kick. A hard shot by Çağan Demren from long distance, 93 minutes into the match, got Johann Scheuerer's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Lokomotiv Bornova were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Rot-Weiss-Essen to leave the ground with a draw.
