Rigoberto Thomas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baldomiro Txindoki having to interfere. Baldomiro Txindoki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rigoberto Thomas in the 28th minute of play. FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's Dilaver Tunçhan suffered a sore foot after 31 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fernando Nabar during the 31st minute. After 41 minutes of play Santa Maradona's Fernando Nabar was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 42nd match minute, Santa Maradona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Nabar to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to FC UNIREA Alba Iulia getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Petrică Cândreanu hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Santa Maradona's Rodolfo Cordeiro got a free kick in the 46th minute. Santa Maradona's Herminio Birila was substituted for Samuel Refugio. Jonathan Errapel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eric Luican, who was totally free with the ball in the 49th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Orçun Yalınalp was the one to do the kick off. 57 minutes into the game, Orçun Yalınalp cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Jonathan Errapel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Santa Maradona's Jonathan Errapel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilson Arósio in the 59th minute of play. In the 62nd minute Eric Luican shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Errapel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, Santa Maradona's Rigoberto Thomas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Baldomiro Txindoki narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nils-Emil Hansson made in the 79th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Wilson Arósio however managed to control. With his leg Baldomiro Txindoki managed to avoid a goal in the 84thth minute, when Santa Maradona's Rigoberto Thomas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goalkeeper Baldomiro Txindoki, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 90th minute, Petrică Cândreanu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Errapel was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. Santa Maradona's Jonathan Errapel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petrică Cândreanu in the 95th minute of play. Santa Maradona's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
