After 17 played minutes GuateFortín got a freekick which was hit by Heriberto Correa. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihai Gherase in the 18th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, Octavia's goal looked a bit too open when Thierry Henry came free, but Oscar Frascuelo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 22 minutes Octavia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Angel Alvarenga who took care of the corner kick. When GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Mihai Gherase made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Octavia got a freekick which was hit by Delmar Cordairo. Jorginho de Amorim made in the 55th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zico Zellier got free with Oscar Frascuelo in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Delmar Cordairo in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Mihai Gherase came free, but Nery Pumpido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Mihai Gherase's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nery Pumpido was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. In the 75th minute of the match, Angel Alvarenga got a very nice opportunity to score, but Oscar Frascuelo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. With a little luck, Octavia's Oscar Frascuelo got control of the ball when Angel Alvarenga tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iordanis Anastasiadis in the 89th minute of play.
