The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 武光星's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nacho González read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Encarale a la gordita's Shao Shu Lang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zarando Eguizabal in the 40th minute of play. Ulizes Sola who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 44thth minute tested the skills of Shao Shu Lang when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Encarale a la gordita's Jurand Sienkowski was substituted for 武光星. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jurand Sienkowski to strike the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Jurand Sienkowski kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nacho González. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jurand Sienkowski couldn't finish the play. Nacho González made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jurand Sienkowski in the 60th minute of play. A hard shot 62 in the game by Jurand Sienkowski from a close distance when the talented Nacho González managed to make a qualified save. Astillero del Guayas's players were relieved. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Encarale a la gordita would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
