After a rather tough play, VILLANUEVA FC's Alonzo Rosselot got a free kick in the 4th minute. Nicodemo Recalde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubén Martínez, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Colo-Colo's Rubén Martínez slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nicodemo Recalde. That made the score 1-0 after 8 minutes of play. In the 14th minute Rubén Martínez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicodemo Recalde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Colo-Colo's Rambo Ramírez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xalvador Mac Kenney in the 17th minute of play. Colo-Colo's Rubén Martínez got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Colo-Colo defense, Xalvador Mac Kenney kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rambo Ramírez. The Colo-Colo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rambo Ramírez should have stopped the shot. When Colo-Colo's Rubén Martínez in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Rambo Ramírez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xalvador Mac Kenney, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jorge Vicente Soler to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xacobo Barroso in the 52nd minute of play forced Colo-Colo's goalkeeper Rambo Ramírez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Colo-Colo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Xacobo Barroso was slow to take the kick. During this time VILLANUEVA FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led VILLANUEVA FC's Xacobo Barroso to fire away a dangerous shot which Rambo Ramírez despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Colo-Colo's attentive Emerson Pereira managed to snatch the ball when Alonzo Rosselot made a throw-in in the 58th minute of the game. In the 59thth minute of the game Rubén Martínez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VILLANUEVA FC's Nicodemo Recalde was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 60th minute, Rubén Martínez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nicodemo Recalde was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After 65 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Emerson Pereira. Colo-Colo's Ivo Basay was substituted for Rubén Martínez. Marco-Antonio Etcheverry hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After 77 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Marco-Antonio Etcheverry. 82 minutes into the match, Carlitos Caszely notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of VILLANUEVA FC's Nicodemo Recalde. Nicodemo Recalde was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the VILLANUEVA FC defense, Ivo Basay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicodemo Recalde. The VILLANUEVA FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicodemo Recalde should have stopped the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Colo-Colo fully deserved thier win.
