The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Di Wei got the match started through his kick off. Rubén Martínez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Gustavo Daneri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of The Mugiwara Boys booed when Colo-Colo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco-Antonio Etcheverry didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rambo Ramírez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Di Wei in the 17th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, Colo-Colo's Rubén Martínez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gustavo Daneri narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the The Mugiwara Boys defense, Rubén Martínez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gustavo Daneri. The The Mugiwara Boys fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gustavo Daneri should have stopped the shot. A collision led to The Mugiwara Boys getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Bo Racheli hit a great ball. After 48 played minutes, Colo-Colo's Honorio Droguett shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gustavo Daneri came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Colo-Colo reached it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Rubén Martínez made the kick off in the second half. Rambo Ramírez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Di Wei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rubén Martínez struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Gustavo Daneri didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Colo-Colo. Gustavo Daneri was a little too slow when Rubén Martínez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 60th minute. The score was now 0-3. Tomislav Parev hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Tomislav Parev kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. In the 66th minute Rubén Martínez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustavo Daneri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Colo-Colo's Ivo Basay was substituted for Rubén Martínez. 70 minutes into the game, one of Colo-Colo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Colo-Colo made a substitution. José Julio Almeida replaced Marco-Antonio Etcheverry. 79 minutes into the game, Tomislav Parev was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Colo-Colo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Mugiwara Boys the free kick.
