Edgar Baiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Luiz Neto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edgar Baiano came free with the goalkeeper in the 40th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Luiz Neto could save by the left post. When Deilmison De Ligt fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ꑿ.Ꮳ. ꋪꋬℑꋬꇓ's protests and gave Deilmison De Ligt a yellow card for diving instead. Deilmison De Ligt hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in ꑿ.Ꮳ. ꋪꋬℑꋬꇓ's zone, Rômulo Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Neto came out of the goal and Rômulo Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luiz Neto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Estevez Palmeira in the 46th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edgar Baiano to make the kick off. Luiz Neto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
