Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zé Carlos Tróia to make the kick off. Ruy Loureiro came out and tried to block the shot, but Jorge Cavalcante slotted it home off the left post making it 3-3 in the 57th minute. When Zé Carlos Tróia fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montevideo's protests and gave Zé Carlos Tróia a yellow card for diving instead. After 60 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Zé Carlos Tróia. A collision led to Montevideo getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Zé Carlos Tróia hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Cavalcante in the 64th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ruy Loureiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Carlos Tróia was shown his second yellow card after 66 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded.
