Lauro Secco came out of the goal and Perivaldo Pimenta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Fernandão Meirelles fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Papunhas EC's protests and gave Fernandão Meirelles a yellow card for diving instead. In the 33rd minute, Fernandão Meirelles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Júlio Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lauro Secco having to interfere. When João Paulo Ribeiro fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Papunhas EC's protests and gave João Paulo Ribeiro a yellow card for diving instead. João Paulo Ribeiro kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Maurinho Prestes to strike the kick off in the second half. If Nicolas França had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lauro Secco was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nicolas França showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 54 minute of play.
