After 11 played minutes, Catugi FC's Artur Nunes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lauro Secco came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Catugi FC reached it. 14 minutes into the match, Nando de Alcântara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lauro Secco. Papunhas EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nando de Alcântara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Claudinei Carioca took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lauro Secco. Lauro Secco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Fernandão Meirelles made in the 24th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Maurinho Prestes however managed to control. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Nando de Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catugi FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nando de Alcântara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lauro Secco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lauro Secco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nando de Alcântara in the 31st minute of the match. Falcão Paes's late challenge caught a Papunhas EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Falcão Paes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd match minute, Catugi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Falcão Paes to maneuver through the defense. Nando de Alcântara scored 0-4 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lauro Secco, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Joaquim da Fonseca fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Papunhas EC's protests and gave Joaquim da Fonseca a yellow card for diving instead. After 42 played minutes Papunhas EC got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim da Fonseca. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nando de Alcântara in the 43rd minute of play forced Papunhas EC's goalkeeper Lauro Secco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lauro Secco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nando de Alcântara's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. After the first half Catugi FC were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Maurinho Prestes to strike the kick off in the second half. Lauro Secco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinei Carioca in the 55th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Papunhas EC's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Varela came free, but Lauro Secco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Catugi FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Artur Nunes in the 59th minute. A nice corner shot did that Artur Nunes got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lauro Secco quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a rather tough play, Papunhas EC's David Furtado got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Papunhas EC's Lauro Secco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nando de Alcântara in the 63rd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 69 minutes, Nando de Alcântara took a quick shot and it went in 0-6 without a chance for Lauro Secco to make any attempt to save it. Artur Nunes hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Sven-Edvin Skräddare took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Fernando Nogueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Claudinei Carioca hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Papunhas EC's Maurinho Prestes got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Cássio Matos kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. The supporters of Catugi FC booed when Papunhas EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquim da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball.
