Ariel Balboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Domingo Barcena got free with Lancelot Cambero in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ariel Balboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabricio Checa, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabricio Checa in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ariel Balboa saved U. de Tarapacá from getting behind. Muharrem Duman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Lancelot Cambero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fabricio Checa might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ariel Balboa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabricio Checa ran back to his position shaking his head. Mark Devia's late challenge caught a Itacaruaré's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain.
