In the 3rd minute Siro Molinuevo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerd Laforge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of AS Rapperswil-Jona booed when Punta Carretas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cordera Silvestre didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aurelius Amberg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marcelito Cirion. Punta Carretas FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Celestino Drescher kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Celestino Drescher in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelito Cirion saved Punta Carretas FC from getting behind. Marcelito Cirion made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hercules Dommen in the 14th minute of play. The supporters of AS Rapperswil-Jona booed when Punta Carretas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zigor Cuellar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelito Cirion stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hercules Dommen's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Celestino Drescher recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 24th minute, Amadeo Olazabal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gerd Laforge was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Celestino Drescher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Marcelito Cirion tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hercules Dommen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With 33 minutes on the clock, Aurelius Amberg commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in AS Rapperswil-Jona fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 33rd minute. Penalty! In the 38th match minute, Punta Carretas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bazil Bultes to maneuver through the defense. Celestino Drescher's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcelito Cirion read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Celestino Drescher managed to get in a good position for a shot. AS Rapperswil-Jona's supporters rose to their feet, but Celestino Drescher was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelito Cirion breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcelito Cirion took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hercules Dommen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Siro Molinuevo made the kick off in the second half. Celestino Drescher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelito Cirion having to interfere. In the 54th match minute, AS Rapperswil-Jona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hercules Dommen to maneuver through the defense. In the 63rd minute, Roque Peñacerrada ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gerd Laforge was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Gerd Laforge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Siro Molinuevo in the 72nd minute of the match. With a little luck, Punta Carretas FC's Marcelito Cirion got control of the ball when Celestino Drescher tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 77th match minute, AS Rapperswil-Jona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudio Rohr to maneuver through the defense. In the 80th minute Roque Peñacerrada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerd Laforge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hercules Dommen hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Bjarne Fröhlicher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelito Cirion having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Punta Carretas FC's Precioso Amundarain got a free kick in the 90th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zigor Cuellar during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th minute, Zigor Cuellar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Punta Carretas FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
