Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Ahmet Reha Serhan kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the game, Celestino Drescher cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Kahraman Alatay was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Celestino Drescher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kahraman Alatay having to interfere. AS Rapperswil-Jona's Hercules Dommen got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kahraman Alatay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hercules Dommen in the 9th minute of the match. The supporters of AS Rapperswil-Jona booed when MERDO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Burhanettin Yiğithan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute, Celestino Drescher got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 17 minutes into the match, Bjarne Fröhlicher notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of MERDO's Kahraman Alatay. Kahraman Alatay was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hercules Dommen took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kahraman Alatay. Kahraman Alatay dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Gürsel Şahinoğlu hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. 30 minutes into the match, Özbek Sökmensu notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of AS Rapperswil-Jona's Gerd Laforge. Gerd Laforge was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 35th minute, Celestino Drescher left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AS Rapperswil-Jona fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Kahraman Alatay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celestino Drescher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Gürsel Şahinoğlu fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MERDO's protests and gave Gürsel Şahinoğlu a yellow card for diving instead. After 42 played minutes MERDO got a freekick which was hit by Gürsel Şahinoğlu. After some careless play in the MERDO defense, Hercules Dommen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kahraman Alatay. The MERDO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kahraman Alatay should have stopped the shot. Disappointed in the 1-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Hercules Dommen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kahraman Alatay read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Celestino Drescher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind AS Rapperswil-Jona's goalkeeper Gerd Laforge, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, MERDO's Kahraman Alatay got control of the ball when Hercules Dommen tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kahraman Alatay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hercules Dommen in the 98th minute of the match.
