When Siro Molinuevo came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Punta Carretas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Siro Molinuevo couldn't finish the play. Marcelito Cirion made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Celestino Drescher sent off a good shot on target. 9 minutes into the match, Siro Molinuevo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of AS Rapperswil-Jona's Gerd Laforge. Gerd Laforge was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Celestino Drescher took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcelito Cirion. Marcelito Cirion dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 20 minutes into the match, Amadeo Olazabal notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of AS Rapperswil-Jona's Gerd Laforge. Gerd Laforge was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. AS Rapperswil-Jona's Gerd Laforge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Siro Molinuevo in the 25th minute of play. After 27 minutes of play, Punta Carretas FC's Siro Molinuevo made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gerd Laforge was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Roque Peñacerrada in the 32nd minute of play forced AS Rapperswil-Jona's goalkeeper Gerd Laforge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AS Rapperswil-Jona's Gerd Laforge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roque Peñacerrada in the 35th minute of play. Siro Molinuevo struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Gerd Laforge didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Punta Carretas FC. When Ugutz Urbina fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Punta Carretas FC's protests and gave Ugutz Urbina a yellow card for diving instead. Ugutz Urbina kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Gerd Laforge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Siro Molinuevo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 42 minutes into the game, Remo Jerzinger was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AS Rapperswil-Jona's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Punta Carretas FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, AS Rapperswil-Jona's Remo Jerzinger got a free kick in the 42nd minute. In the 44th minute, Roque Peñacerrada ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gerd Laforge was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Siro Molinuevo to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Punta Carretas FC's Siro Molinuevo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gerd Laforge. Gerd Laforge yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zigor Cuellar during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Zigor Cuellar hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Hercules Dommen managed to get in a good position for a shot. AS Rapperswil-Jona's supporters rose to their feet, but Hercules Dommen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelito Cirion breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Punta Carretas FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Xavian Tavera hit a great ball. The supporters of Punta Carretas FC booed when AS Rapperswil-Jona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudio Rohr didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelito Cirion showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hercules Dommen in the 79th minute of the match. Amadeo Olazabal succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-6 in the 84th playminute. Ugutz Urbina struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Gerd Laforge didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Punta Carretas FC. After having played for 90 minutes, Celestino Drescher managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AS Rapperswil-Jona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celestino Drescher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 95th minute Hercules Dommen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelito Cirion saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Punta Carretas FC played a much better game than AS Rapperswil-Jona and deserved their victory. The AS Rapperswil-Jona players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
