The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Damian Chowaniec might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eduardo Pereyra. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Damian Chowaniec ran back to his position shaking his head. New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bartosz Olejarz in the 7th minute of play. In the 11th match minute, New York Red Bulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nazım Taci to maneuver through the defense. In the 12th minute Damian Chowaniec shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Pereyra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Francis Calmes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from George Schiau, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Eduardo Pereyra didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Damian Chowaniec went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 18th minute, George Schiau fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After a defensive mix-up in Ekipa Gabi's zone, Nazım Taci stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francis Calmes came out of the goal and Nazım Taci tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eduardo Pereyra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doru Mihuț in the 22nd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basarab Panduru got free with Francis Calmes in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 24 minutes into the game, Dong Hong Jian was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. New York Red Bulls's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ekipa Gabi the free kick. Dong Hong Jian hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 40 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goal looked a bit too open when Damian Chowaniec came free, but Eduardo Pereyra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of New York Red Bulls booed when Ekipa Gabi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucjan Dembowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. George Schiau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The New York Red Bulls players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ekipa Gabi were winning 0-1.

The referee gave Cristinel Alamaru a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to New York Red Bulls getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Cristinel Alamaru hit a great ball. Walery Bochinski took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 70th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eduardo Pereyra. New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Doru Mihuț sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Witalis Debkowski during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eduardo Pereyra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Chowaniec in the 80th minute of the match. When George Schiau came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the New York Red Bulls fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that George Schiau couldn't finish the play. In the 92nd minute, Nazım Taci left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The New York Red Bulls fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. New York Red Bulls were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Ekipa Gabi for a fine match.
