Giovanni Soeiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Carlos Alberto Viana got a free kick in the 13th minute. Cássio de Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Viana in the 15th minute of the match. Vitor José showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benjamim Guedes in the 17th minute of the match. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Carlos Alberto Viana got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul booed when Poetass FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliézer Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. Poetass FC's Cássio de Senna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Viana in the 27th minute of play. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Vitor José proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save S.E.R. Caxias do Sul from getting a goal against them. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Poetass FC's goalkeeper Cássio de Senna, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the Poetass FC defense, Carlos Alberto Viana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cássio de Senna. The Poetass FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cássio de Senna should have stopped the shot. Jonas Veloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. In the 40th minute, Flávio Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 46 played minutes Poetass FC got a freekick which was hit by Claudinho Saldanha. In the 47th minute Carlos Alberto Viana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio de Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Alberto Viana stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Carlos Alberto Viana got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ladislao Mazurkiewiczs short, quick shot in the 72ndth minute got Cássio de Senna to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With an all-out effort, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Cássio de Senna threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Carlos Alberto Viana, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The corner led to S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Jonas Veloso getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Carlos Alberto Viana hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. When Flávio Fonseca fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's protests and gave Flávio Fonseca a yellow card for diving instead. The audience held their breath when Claudinho Saldanha in the 84th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Vitor José's left hand side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Alberto Viana in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cássio de Senna saved Poetass FC from getting behind. In the 95th minute, Jonas Veloso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul played a much better game than Poetass FC and deserved their victory. The Poetass FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
