The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. George Schiau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nazım Taci in the 5th minute of play forced Brașov HooliganS's goalkeeper Eitel Patrzek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 6 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's Nazım Taci sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eitel Patrzek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 18th minute of the game Toader Fărcașu made a throw-in which Șerban Gherasim played forward. George Schiau kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 22nd match minute, New York Red Bulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dong Hong Jian to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Brașov HooliganS's Gavril Argăseală tried to score from far away in the 23rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Șerban Gherasim in the 27th minute of play forced New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Eduardo Pereyra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristinel Alamaru kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. George Schiau kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute Stelian Papaiani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Pereyra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute of the match Brașov HooliganS got a corner. New York Red Bulls's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gavril Argăseală ran over to the corner to take the kick. Stelian Papaiani scored 0-1 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eduardo Pereyra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nazım Taci received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eitel Patrzek came out and tried to block the shot, but Nazım Taci slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 40th minute. Eitel Patrzek stood somewhat misplaced when Nazım Taci came free in front of goal and shot 2-1 to the left of him in the 43 minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Eitel Patrzek stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nazım Taci's shot from short distance in the 50th minute. In the 52nd minute of the match New York Red Bulls got a corner. Brașov HooliganS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Basarab Panduru ran over to the corner to take the kick. 52 minutes into the game, Stelian Papaiani was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Brașov HooliganS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave New York Red Bulls the free kick. After 53 played minutes Brașov HooliganS got a freekick which was hit by Stelian Papaiani. The audience thought a goal was coming when Horia Teaşcă got free with Eduardo Pereyra in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stelian Papaiani got his second yellow card in the match during the 59th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of New York Red Bulls booed when Brașov HooliganS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stelian Papaiani didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eitel Patrzek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nazım Taci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eitel Patrzek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George Schiau in the 63rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nazım Taci in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eitel Patrzek saved Brașov HooliganS from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Brașov HooliganS's zone, George Schiau stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eitel Patrzek came out of the goal and George Schiau tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 75 minutes into the match, Brașov HooliganS's goal looked a bit too open when Nazım Taci came free, but Eitel Patrzek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eitel Patrzek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nazım Taci, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Eitel Patrzek stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nazım Taci's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Eitel Patrzek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nazım Taci in the 86th minute of the match. With a little luck, New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra got control of the ball when Horia Teaşcă tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nazım Taci took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eitel Patrzek. Eitel Patrzek dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Brașov HooliganS's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
