The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, New York Red Bulls's Cristinel Alamaru nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gündüz Cihangir made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by George Schiau during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 9th minute, Nazım Taci ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gündüz Cihangir was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. 13 minutes in the game Baybars Sulasi did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to İsmet Hidayet. Gündüz Cihangir came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by New York Red Bulls's Nazım Taci. But to his dismay, Nazım Taci quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Eduardo Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hazar Kayaalp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute Nazım Taci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gündüz Cihangir saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, New York Red Bulls's Nazım Taci nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gündüz Cihangir made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. In the 24th minute, Nazım Taci ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gündüz Cihangir was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. 31 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's Nazım Taci sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gündüz Cihangir narrowly saved just below the crossbar. New York Red Bulls were awarded a corner in the 32th minute after Denizli United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Basarab Panduru took the corner. After taking down the ball on New York Red Bulls's corner Basarab Panduru fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Gündüz Cihangir quite easily take care of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Nazım Taci managed to get in a good position for a shot. New York Red Bulls's supporters rose to their feet, but Nazım Taci was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gündüz Cihangir breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Baybars Sulasi made in the 44th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Lütfi Tanacan immediately put the ball in play. George Schiau scored 0-7 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gündüz Cihangir, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cristinel Alamaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gündüz Cihangir having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mehmet Emre Ayalp made a kick off. A hard shot 52 in the game by Nazım Taci from a close distance when the talented Gündüz Cihangir managed to make a qualified save. Denizli United's players were relieved. If Nazım Taci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nazım Taci succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-8 in the 61st playminute. Denizli United's Gündüz Cihangir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nazım Taci in the 66th minute of play. Cristinel Alamaru struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Gündüz Cihangir didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New York Red Bulls. The supporters of Denizli United booed when New York Red Bulls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ionuț Balc didn't get a good kick on the ball. 74 minutes into the game, Nazım Taci recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gündüz Cihangir. Nazım Taci showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-9. In the 82nd minute of the game Baybars Sulasi made a throw-in which İsmet Hidayet played forward. George Schiau received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gündüz Cihangir came out and tried to block the shot, but George Schiau slotted it home off the left post making it 0-12 in the 90th minute. Gündüz Cihangir didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from George Schiau went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-13 was the resulting score.
