Atlético de Caracas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Branco FC the free kick. Branco FC's Domingos Aimar was substituted for Nicanor Bazil. When Branco FC's Mitch Dekens in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Atlético de Caracas's goalie prevented a goal. After 31 played minutes Branco FC got a freekick which was hit by Adolfo Montes. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético de Caracas's goalkeeper Zarando Calva, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 41st minute, Mehmet Halis İley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aaron Inge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rolando Alley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 91st match minute, Atlético de Caracas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Piero Hincapié to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético de Caracas's zone, Mitch Dekens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zarando Calva came out of the goal and Mitch Dekens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sten Nordin got free with Zarando Calva in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Branco FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sten Nordin in the 98th minute. Eugenio Rio made a great header on Branco FC's corner, it was just that Atlético de Caracas's Zarando Calva managed to reach the ball for a save. With splendid footwork Aristides Etxeberri arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-1 by the left pole in the game's 98th minute. Branco FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Atlético de Caracas had controlled the match.
