When Marcu Iovan came up free with the goalie in the 2nd minute, the FC Ruscova fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcu Iovan couldn't finish the play. Ágúst Vilhjálmsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciro Cortez in the 4th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Zachary Snaza sped through U21 Iceland's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ágúst Vilhjálmsson. In the 8th minute Zachary Snaza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ágúst Vilhjálmsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 10th minute of the match FC Ruscova got a corner. U21 Iceland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Manuel Şoimu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Engilbjartur Hallsson's late challenge caught a FC Ruscova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Engilbjartur Hallsson helped the player get up and apologised. After 12 played minutes U21 Iceland got a freekick which was hit by Engilbjartur Hallsson. After a rather tough play, FC Ruscova's Vintilă Miclescu got a free kick in the 13th minute. Ciro Cortez struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Ágúst Vilhjálmsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Ruscova. Erling Laufarsson scored 1-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Helmuth Duckadam, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Friðbert Kjartansson in the 31st minute of play forced FC Ruscova's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the game, Zachary Snaza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Ágúst Vilhjálmsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ágúst Vilhjálmsson came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Ruscova's Zachary Snaza. But to his dismay, Zachary Snaza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Ágúst Vilhjálmsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Glauco Motta in the 43rd minute of the match. Ágúst Vilhjálmsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcu Iovan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

A hard shot 51 in the game by Zachary Snaza from a close distance when the talented Ágúst Vilhjálmsson managed to make a qualified save. U21 Iceland's players were relieved. Ciro Cortez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, U21 Iceland's Ágúst Vilhjálmsson got control of the ball when Ciro Cortez tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Friðbert Kjartansson in the 60th minute of play forced FC Ruscova's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ágúst Vilhjálmsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zachary Snaza, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Zachary Snaza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zachary Snaza got free with Ágúst Vilhjálmsson in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 93 minutes into the match, U21 Iceland's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Cortez came free, but Ágúst Vilhjálmsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Ruscova's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
