Garanhão do SUL's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cassiano Telinhos in the 9th minute. Casey Harban tried in the game's 10th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Dušan Ančic. An annoying self made goal, 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Dušan Ančic had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Torcato Rebocho. In the 16thth minute of the game Sebastian Percival who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Garanhão do SUL's Ignatius Casasola was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Club Atlético de Newell's goal looked a bit too open when Torcato Rebocho came free, but Dušan Ančic reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Club Atlético de Newell getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Amanda Hoffs hit a great ball. Virgílio Teves had several of the Club Atlético de Newell's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 38 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 3-0 score and a disappointed Dušan Ančic as he didn't even see the shot coming. Garanhão do SUL's Ignatius Casasola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Percival in the 43rd minute of play. After 46 played minutes Club Atlético de Newell got a freekick which was hit by Pastor Eufemio. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgílio Teves in the 52nd minute of play forced Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Dušan Ančic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Akis Kefallinos might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dušan Ančic. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Akis Kefallinos ran back to his position shaking his head. Garanhão do SUL's Obafemi Fabiani was substituted for Torcato Rebocho. Garanhão do SUL made a substitution. André Roriz replaced Virgílio Teves. Through an outstanding action, after 61 minutes, Ignatius Casasola successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugo Alexandersen got free with Ignatius Casasola in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 龙然明 kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Club Atlético de Newell's Harry Carson shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 73rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Ignatius Casasola but with some difficulty. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugo Alexandersen got free with Ignatius Casasola in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 78th minute, Sebastian Percival hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Percival in the 80th minute of play forced Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Ignatius Casasola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 89 minutes of play, Garanhão do SUL's André Roriz made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dušan Ančic was left in no man's land by his defense there! 94 minutes into the game, Garanhão do SUL's André Roriz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dušan Ančic made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Club Atlético de Newell players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Garanhão do SUL.
