This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Olívio Arruda as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 8th minute, Edgar Baiano made a precise shot to the right of Olívio Arruda. Los Bacanas FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Paulo Munhoz got free with Olívio Arruda in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Edgar Baiano took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Olívio Arruda to make any attempt to save it. Los Bacanas FC's Olívio Arruda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Los Bacanas FC from getting a goal against them. The Los Bacanas FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olívio Arruda should have stopped the shot. But to his dismay, Edgar Baiano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Olívio Arruda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Estevez Palmeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. A hard shot by Robinho Magalhães from long distance, 41 minutes into the match, got Olívio Arruda's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The crowd rose to their feet as Wiliam Cardozo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Olívio Arruda. That made the score 8-0 in the 44 minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Célio Dionísio to make the kick off.
