Douglas Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osmar Simão, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Kaká Romero hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After having played for 31 minutes, Betinho Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SORRISO E. C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Betinho Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Scarlet Speedster's Ronaldão Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo da Rocha in the 34th minute of play. A collision led to SORRISO E. C. getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Rodrigo Penha hit a great ball. SORRISO E. C.'s Douglas Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kauan Valle in the 45th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alex Falcão to make the kick off. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Douglas Viana showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 76th match minute, SORRISO E. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodrigo Penha to maneuver through the defense. Allan Souto's late challenge caught a SORRISO E. C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Allan Souto helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SORRISO E. C. booed when Scarlet Speedster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position.
