Leonardo Martins charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leonardo Martins the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 13 played minutes JFSP got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Martins. Edgard de Godoi's late challenge caught a EDI MZB's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgard de Godoi helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, JFSP's Edgard de Godoi got a free kick in the 18th minute. Tarcisio Gerber took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Luís Ceresso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sílvio Luís Ceresso during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, JFSP's Sílvio Luís Ceresso got a free kick in the 34th minute. EDI MZB's Tarcisio Gerber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sílvio Luís Ceresso in the 35th minute of play. Tarcisio Gerber came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by JFSP's Sílvio Luís Ceresso. But to his dismay, Sílvio Luís Ceresso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Sílvio Luís Ceresso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Tarcisio Gerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 47 played minutes EDI MZB got a freekick which was hit by Gláuber Marquez. Sílvio Luís Ceresso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tarcisio Gerber having to interfere. After the first half JFSP were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Tarcisio Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sílvio Luís Ceresso in the 54th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, EDI MZB's goal looked a bit too open when Hermínio Meirelles came free, but Tarcisio Gerber reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gláuber Marquez kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. After 57 minutes of play JFSP's Edgard de Godoi was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Edgard de Godoi hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. If Flavinho Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 69 minutes into the match, JFSP's Gláuber Fonseca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tarcisio Gerber narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 75 played minutes JFSP got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Martins. In the 80th minute, Sílvio Luís Ceresso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sílvio Luís Ceresso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Tarcisio Gerber didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for JFSP. After some careless play in the EDI MZB defense, Sílvio Luís Ceresso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tarcisio Gerber. The EDI MZB fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tarcisio Gerber should have stopped the shot. Olívio Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavinho Donato in the 90th minute of play. Olívio Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Júnior Sampaio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of EDI MZB booed when JFSP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gláuber Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched JFSP eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
