The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Osvaldo Braga charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 15th minute Xarles Gadañon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Férid Khalifa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Kismi Tojedo could shoot a difficult shot in the 16th minute, which Férid Khalifa however easily saved by the left post. Domenec Oliveras could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Férid Khalifa made a huge save. If Josué Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Matías Brasil came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Botafogo MZRJ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matías Brasil couldn't finish the play. In the 42nd match minute, Botafogo MZRJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nando Tande to maneuver through the defense. In the 43rd minute of the match Gilmar Cuadrillero shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Férid Khalifa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 45 minutes of play, Botafogo MZRJ's Matías Brasil made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Angelo Carballal was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Matías Brasil received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Angelo Carballal came out and tried to block the shot, but Matías Brasil slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 55th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cido Nóbrega during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 60 played minutes Botafogo MZRJ got a freekick which was hit by Cido Nóbrega. Josué Matos struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Angelo Carballal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Botafogo MZRJ. The audience thought a goal was coming when Murillo Loureiro got free with Angelo Carballal in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Férid Khalifa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kismi Tojedo in the 76th minute of play. Nardo Tuo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Férid Khalifa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Botafogo MZRJ walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
