Simon Ribeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ettore Madaio in the 16th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Chanchos defense, Ettore Madaio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simon Ribeiro. The Chanchos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simon Ribeiro should have stopped the shot. Nikolas Kafkalas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Simon Ribeiro made a huge save. In the 22nd minute, Ramiro Gago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rafael Martxot in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sérgio Vargas saved FC GURZUN from getting behind. Chanchos's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tommy Gun in the 24th minute. The corner ended in Alain Ramsey almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but FC GURZUN's Sérgio Vargas did a great save. If Nae Hurmuzache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 30 played minutes FC GURZUN got a freekick which was hit by Ettore Madaio. 35 minutes into the match, Chanchos's Concetto Mascitti sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sérgio Vargas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chanchos were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after FC GURZUN's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tommy Gun took the corner. Simon Ribeiro made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Nae Hurmuzache sent off a good shot on target. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 51st minute Nikolas Kafkalas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simon Ribeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chanchos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC GURZUN the free kick.
