With an all-out effort, Portus Ganda's George Forsyth threw himself towards the right post 2 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Enrique Jacinto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 5 minutes, Frederic Van Caels mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Portus Ganda and the CD Municipal players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Portus Ganda getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Frederic Van Caels hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Portus Ganda's zone, Iacob Roman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tony Vanbuyten came out of the goal and Iacob Roman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of CD Municipal booed when Portus Ganda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ye Yang Ao didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tony Vanbuyten made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tulio Andinyach in the 15th minute of play. CD Municipal's George Forsyth proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save CD Municipal from getting a goal against them. George Forsyth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jüri Djorkaeff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Vanbuyten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrique Cassaretto in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 28th minute, one of CD Municipal:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for CD Municipal. Portus Ganda's Tony Vanbuyten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Cassaretto in the 32nd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Jüri Djorkaeff kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving George Forsyth. That made the score 1-1 in the 35 minute of play. Jüri Djorkaeff could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but George Forsyth made a huge save. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Enrique Cassaretto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match CD Municipal got a corner. Portus Ganda's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Iacob Roman ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 55 played minutes CD Municipal got a freekick which was hit by Tulio Andinyach. In the 56th minute Enrique Jacinto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Forsyth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. George Forsyth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Jacinto, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. 63 minutes into the match, CD Municipal's goal looked a bit too open when Jüri Djorkaeff came free, but George Forsyth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 67 minutes, Tony Vanbuyten successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 69 minutes had been played when some careless play by Portus Ganda's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Iacob Roman was slow to take the kick. During this time CD Municipal's players had a chance to rest. Iacob Roman made a great header on CD Municipal's corner, it was just that Portus Ganda's Tony Vanbuyten managed to reach the ball for a save. CD Municipal's George Forsyth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Jacinto in the 74th minute of play. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind CD Municipal's goalkeeper George Forsyth, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. George Forsyth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Güralp Ergüleç in the 81st minute of the match. In the 87th minute CD Municipal were awarded a corner. Iacob Roman went to the cornerflag to take it. Mouricio Zuri was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Through an outstanding action, after 92 minutes, Tony Vanbuyten successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Ryota Miyagi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
