In the 31st minute of the match Reinaldo Medina sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sílvio Luiz Goiano skillfully saved the ball. Carmelo Sifon received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Liu Yong Yong came out and tried to block the shot, but Carmelo Sifon slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 32nd minute. 35 minutes into the match, OROTINENSE's goal looked a bit too open when Carmelo Sifon came free, but Liu Yong Yong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Nicolás Guerrero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and David Talamanca made a kick off. Real Madrid de Guatemala's Sílvio Luiz Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Omar Carvajal in the 53rd minute of play. Sílvio Luiz Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Talamanca, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 56th minute Nicolás Guerrero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Liu Yong Yong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jesus Cortez kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. After 59 minutes, Cristian Santamaria mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Madrid de Guatemala and the OROTINENSE players grew even worse after the yellow card.
