The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute Jeffrey Yoshioka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Preston Esposito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Preston Esposito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duncan Nichols in the 9th minute of play. Preston Esposito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Duncan Nichols went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Preston Esposito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duncan Nichols in the 14th minute of the match. After 18 minutes, Lamar Knapp made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's Preston Esposito tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Duncan Nichols took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Preston Esposito. Preston Esposito dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. 23 minutes into the match, DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's goal looked a bit too open when Jeffrey Yoshioka came free, but Preston Esposito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duncan Nichols in the 25th minute of play forced DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's goalkeeper Preston Esposito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, ForestFire's Edgardo Courtney got a free kick in the 26th minute. 29 minutes into the game, Todd Mayes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ForestFire's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO the free kick. In the 30th minute there was a penalty for DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO. Maurice Yoshioka stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Reed Molina. 1-3. DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's Preston Esposito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lane Martinez in the 33rd minute of play. 34 minutes into the game, Eddy Amos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Preston Esposito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 37th minute, Lane Martinez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ForestFire fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. Lane Martinez scored 1-6 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Preston Esposito, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 43rd minute, Eddy Amos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ForestFire fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-7. Preston Esposito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Duncan Nichols went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-8 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-8 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
Preston Esposito was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Eddy Amos showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-9 in the 51 minute of play. Lane Martinez scored 1-10 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Preston Esposito, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's Preston Esposito proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as ForestFire's Eddy Amos slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Preston Esposito. That made the score 1-12 after 61 minutes of play. When ForestFire's Lane Martinez in the 64th minute got a chance for a shot 64th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's goalie prevented a goal. 66 minutes into the match, Lane Martinez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Preston Esposito. DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lane Martinez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-13. In the 69th minute, Lane Martinez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ForestFire fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-14. 72 minutes into the match, DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's goal looked a bit too open when Lamar Knapp came free, but Preston Esposito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute, ForestFire's Lane Martinez ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Preston Esposito. Preston Esposito yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-15. Jeffrey Yoshioka could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Preston Esposito made a huge save. Preston Esposito was a little too slow when Duncan Nichols got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 79th minute. The score was now 1-16. Duncan Nichols's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Preston Esposito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. Preston Esposito made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Lane Martinez sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pascal Sheldon in the 87th minute of play forced ForestFire's goalkeeper Reed Molina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 88 minutes into the match, DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO's goal looked a bit too open when Lane Martinez came free, but Preston Esposito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of ForestFire booed when DIABLO ROJO CALIFORNIANO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Federico Lassiter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Preston Esposito acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 91st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Eddy Amos. Thanks to some nice moves Jeffrey Yoshioka could shoot a difficult shot in the 93rd minute, which Preston Esposito however easily saved by the left post. ForestFire's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
