Stellenbosch's Americo Gaitano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anibal Fernendo in the 5th minute of play. Stellenbosch's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Baldomiro Gamus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 19th minute, Mariano Urtungo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stellenbosch were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Palermo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Modesto Fliz took the corner. Americo Gaitano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Maraman, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 28th minute, Teodosio Bermund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Baldomiro Gamus fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palermo's protests and gave Baldomiro Gamus a yellow card for diving instead. Stellenbosch made a substitution. Fabio Montxo replaced Modesto Fliz. A collision led to Palermo getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Baldomiro Gamus hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Teodosio Bermund got free with Candido Millan in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 39 minutes of play, Palermo's Anibal Fernendo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Americo Gaitano was left in no man's land by his defense there! Candido Millan made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Iker Garin sent off a good shot on target. Leonides Elizardo hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Stellenbosch's Alberto Oinatz tried to score from far away in the 45th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Stellenbosch's Alberto Oinatz got a free kick in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Santiago Playo kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. After 54 minutes, Emiliano Cordaryal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stellenbosch and the Palermo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Leonides Elizardo shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. 57 minutes into the match, Pedro Maraman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Americo Gaitano. Palermo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stellenbosch the free kick. The supporters of Stellenbosch booed when Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvaro Ermano didn't get a good kick on the ball. 63 minutes into the game, Fabio Montxo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stellenbosch's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palermo the free kick. In the 63rd minute, Fabio Montxo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Teodosio Bermund took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Candido Millan. Candido Millan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. 74 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Teodosio Bermund came free, but Candido Millan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Anibal Fernendo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute of the match Alberto Oinatz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Candido Millan skillfully saved the ball. In the 80th minute, Teodosio Bermund hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Palermo booed when Stellenbosch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iker Garin didn't get a good kick on the ball.
