Gaspar Gora charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gaspar Gora the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 2nd minute, Gaspar Gora hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clemente Rudolfo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pastor Dunixi in the 3rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Venancio Pacorro in the 9th minute of play forced Deportivo Messina's goalkeeper Astor Aureo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Enrique Rosalio notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Characate FC's Clemente Rudolfo. Clemente Rudolfo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Clemente Rudolfo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leandro Vasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Michael Ballack fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Astor Aureo having to interfere. Celestino Iratze recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gabriel Donzel's late challenge caught a Characate FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gabriel Donzel helped the player get up and apologised. Cristian Unai, 29 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Celestino Iratze received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Astor Aureo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Astor Aureo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Michael Ballack's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Astor Aureo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Venancio Pacorro in the 35th minute of the match. The supporters of Characate FC booed when Deportivo Messina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Donzel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Unai, 40 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Deportivo Messina's goal looked a bit too open when Michael Ballack came free, but Astor Aureo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Leandro Vasco made the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 54 in the game by Michael Ballack from a close distance when the talented Astor Aureo managed to make a qualified save. Deportivo Messina's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Messina's Pastor Dunixi got a free kick in the 55th minute. Michael Ballack received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Astor Aureo came out and tried to block the shot, but Michael Ballack slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 60th minute. Gaspar Gora was extremely unlucky when he, in the 64th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Clemente Rudolfo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Rosalio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute, Leandro Vasco made a precise shot to the right of Clemente Rudolfo. Characate FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Michael Ballack who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Astor Aureo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Characate FC's Rogelio Ferman got a free kick in the 78th minute. Pastor Dunixi kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After having played for 82 minutes, Michael Ballack managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Characate FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michael Ballack was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Astor Aureo didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 84th minute, which inside left pole to 2-3. Astor Aureo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Venancio Pacorro in the 92nd minute. A collision led to Deportivo Messina getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Tobias Eusko hit a great ball.
