Doni Meirelles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Paes, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. 4 minutes into the match, ⚽ VILA REAL F.ᑕ. MOC ⚽'s goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Paes came free, but Doni Meirelles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 6 played minutes ⚽ VILA REAL F.ᑕ. MOC ⚽ got a freekick which was hit by Raúl Arósio. After a defensive mix-up in ⚽ VILA REAL F.ᑕ. MOC ⚽'s zone, Horácio Lara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doni Meirelles came out of the goal and Horácio Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 1-0 became the score in the 8th minute when Afonso Paes elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 12 minutes into the game, Danilo Alagoano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ⚽ VILA REAL F.ᑕ. MOC ⚽'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmeiras the free kick. Danilo Alagoano hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlinhos Macedo during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 33 minutes into the match, ⚽ VILA REAL F.ᑕ. MOC ⚽'s goalkeeper Doni Meirelles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Téo Trancoso. After 39 minutes of play, Palmeiras's Téo Trancoso made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Doni Meirelles was left in no man's land by his defense there! Téo Trancoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Doni Meirelles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Afonso Paes to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 57th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademir Senna to maneuver through the defense. In the 58th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michel Bastos to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the game, Perivaldo Maciel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Doni Meirelles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. MOC ⚽'s supporters rose to their feet, but Carlinhos Macedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Márcio Freitas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benê Diniz hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. ⚽ VILA REAL F.ᑕ. MOC ⚽'s Doni Meirelles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Paes in the 74th minute of play. Téo Trancoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Horácio Lara got a free kick in the 80th minute. Horácio Lara took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Doni Meirelles. Doni Meirelles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. After 87 played minutes Palmeiras got a freekick which was hit by Olívio Sabóia. Márcio Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benê Diniz in the 94th minute of play. Palmeiras's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
