The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4thth minute of the game Olavo Matorin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Militros F.C.'s Gerd Pollmann was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Laerte Lucas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Militros F.C. defense, Laerte Lucas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gerd Pollmann. The Militros F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gerd Pollmann should have stopped the shot. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Montevideo from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sandrinho Cunha in the 15th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Militros F.C.'s Gerd Pollmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Lucas in the 19th minute of play. Ronaldo Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandrinho Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ronaldo Medeiros made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Ronaldão Silva sent off a good shot on target. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cosimo Tagliente in the 26th minute of the match. Gerd Pollmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olavo Matorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wanderson Valencia in the 32nd minute of the match. Militros F.C. were awarded a corner in the 33th minute after Montevideo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sandrinho Cunha took the corner. In the 37th minute of the match Montevideo got a corner. Militros F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Wilson Fernandez ran over to the corner to take the kick. At last the ball reached Luisito Antequera at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Militros F.C.. 0-3. Fernandão Recife struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Gerd Pollmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montevideo. Gerd Pollmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laerte Lucas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Militros F.C.'s Sandrinho Cunha got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Ronaldo Medeiros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wanderson Valencia's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luisito Antequera in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gerd Pollmann prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

51 minutes into the match, Olavo Matorin dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gerd Pollmann, 0-4. Olavo Matorin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 57 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Sandrinho Cunha came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldão Silva in the 59th minute of play. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wanderson Valencia in the 64th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laerte Lucas in the 65th minute of play forced Militros F.C.'s goalkeeper Gerd Pollmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Militros F.C.'s Paulão Freire was substituted for Wanderson Valencia. Cosimo Tagliente kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Montevideo's Wilson Fernandez shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 68th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Gerd Pollmann but with some difficulty. Gerd Pollmann made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Olavo Matorin sent off a good shot on target. When Bogdan Blănaru fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montevideo's protests and gave Bogdan Blănaru a yellow card for diving instead. Gerd Pollmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laerte Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 76th minute, Sandrinho Cunha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ronaldo Medeiros was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. 84 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Sandrinho Cunha came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mário Maranhense kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Paulão Freire came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Montevideo eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
